Kayleen Walsh, H.H.P., Business Owner
I grew up in the Adirondacks and developed an appreciation for physical activity and a love for the outdoors. Through physical activity and travel, I have discovered that my passion is movement. I pursued my passion for movement by attending The Boulder College of Massage Therapy (B.C.M.T.), and am grateful for a career that empowers the community and improves lives. Therapeutic massage has allowed me the opportunity to provide a healing space for my community. Prior to attending B.C.M.T., I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Sociology with Minors in Psychology and Women’s Studies at The State University of New York at Geneseo.
My moral compass has always been in the direction of social work and community involvement. In High School, I cycled 215 miles to raise money for Huntington’s disease. In college, I independently created a 3 mile walk with entertainment to fundraise money for The Golisano Children’s Hospital and Alternatives For Battered Women in Rochester, NY. I have worked in sports massage therapy internships with elite athletes at The Colorado University at Boulder and with a professional football team, The Colorado Crush. I have also worked with A.I.D.S. patients at The Colorado A.I.D.S. Project in Denver. In addition, I have donated my services to The Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego and to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research. These experiences, for me, have emphasized the value of giving back to the community and the power of touch.
My education at B.C.M.T. provided me with a strong foundation in which to do bodywork. Bodywork gives me the opportunity to make deep connections with others. In my efforts to connect, I incorporate a fusion of modalities to customize treatments to individual’s needs. I believe in empowering the client with knowledge to help increase their self-esteem, encourage self-care, and support him or her on their path to wellness.
After my B.C.M.T. journey, I found the beautiful beach town of Encinitas. My strong educational background motivated me to create my private practice, Holistic Zen (Therapeutic Massage From The Heart). I have loved watching my business evolve and grow. I will continue to learn at The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine through a Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I believe because I have chosen a life path and career that is in line with my passions and moral compass, the work I do is heartfelt. I believe a client can find solace within if given the time and space to listen to the mind, body, and heart.
