Swedish Massage is a traditional form of bodywork that is the foundation of all other Western styles. Oils and lotions are used directly on the skin to stimulate the circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory, muscular, digestive, and nervous systems of an individual. The session includes effleurage (long flowing strokes), petrissage (kneading), friction (rubbing and compressions), gentle vibration, and tapotement (gentle tapping) to stimulate the body. Swedish massage can be invigorating and also very relaxing.

Normalization of Soft Tissue (N.S.T.) is a clinical approach to bodywork. Postural assessments, muscle energy techniques for stretching, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Drainage, and Cyriax Cross Fiber Friction techniques are utilized to increase a client’s range of motion, decrease adhesions and tension in muscles, decrease pain/swelling, and improve posture. This type of bodywork can be helpful for anyone since we all have pain related to posture. Athletes and those suffering from acute injuries (such as whiplash or carpal tunnel syndrome) can benefit from N.S.T. as well.

Integrative Massage was developed at The Boulder College of Massage Therapy and incorporates the psychotherapeutic work of Wilhelm Reich. The main principles of a session are: mindfulness, embodiment, and holism. The approach is based on the client’s needs and wishes. Possibilities for a session include guided imagery, a dialogue, breath work, sensation work, and a variety of fluid strokes. There are so many options for the therapist and client to create a unique and effective session together.

Sports Massage is geared towards the active client. Different techniques are used for injury prevention, pre, mid, and post-event or rehabilitative massage. Work is done with the athletes sport in mind and the muscles involved in specific activities are focused on.

Maternal Massage addresses the changes in a woman’s structure, musculature, and physiology through and after pregnancy. Pre-natal is done in different positions depending on what stage the pregnancy is in and a detailed health history form is completed to get a thorough understanding of the client. Postpartum massage is done right after birth and up to two years afterwards. A primary focus is strengthening the core musculature which allows for greater support and treating any pain complaints.

Tui Na An Oriental bodywork therapy utilized in China for 2,000 years. Tui Na is based on traditional Chinese Medicine and the theory that health is a result of a balance between yin and yang. To achieve this balance, qi flows through the meridians or pathways of the body. Tui Na massage and manipulation techniques help to establish a harmonious flow of qi within the body.  The techniques are very specific and can be activating or extremely relaxing.
